Can Buddhist be Christian and still Buddhist?

Holiness doesn't come to us by the way we live but because of God imputing His Righteousness to us in Salvation.

This is only because Jesus becoming sin for us and covering us with His Robe of Righteousness.

Once one is saved by His Grace, we are ready to be taken into God's presence because of Christ's covering. The conformation of us into his dear Son happens as long as we live on this earth by the work of Holy Spirit.

We bring forth good fruits as a result or evidence of Salvation.

Matt 7:16-19 "...Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? 17Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. 18A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 19Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire."

By nature we all are bad trees. We are deceived into thinking we are good trees by superficially doing some good works. But eventually our sin will catch up. What happens in Salvation (born from above, of God), God transforms us into good tree by grafting us into Christ. So we can never bring forth bad works but can still fall into bad because of our other half, sinful body. Once our body is redeemed when Christ returns, this warring between body and soul ceases. This is what Bible teaches. Where as all other Books teach how to get right with God with our own Good Works.

2 Cor 5:21 "For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him."

2 Cor 6:14-16 "Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? 15And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? 16And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people."

The above verse doesn't mean that have holier than thou attitude but a clear separation of God and World. There is nothing wrong in other Books of the World and religion and they teach Good. But the problem is the subtle deception. Self-Righteouness Vs God's Righteousness. Bible shows we cannot get right with God by keeping law but purely by God's Mercy and Grace. Paul was under the same deception, until God saved him by His Grace.

There are millions of Hindus in India who are followers of Christ and there are millions of Christians who are followers of Christ, yet not born-again. They are all in the same boat. A true follower is someone who has new birth from God and then follow. If we are not born-again, we are trying to please God as being a bad tree and trying to bring forth good fruit.

To Buddhists who think that they can follow Jesus and still be Buddhists:

Yes Christianity is not a religion, it is a way just as you claim. In fact, religion which follows after vain traditions and confined to doctrines may come in between Jesus and us. But what you need to realize is Bible has the true Gospel. It is the Gospel of Grace. What you find in any other books is 'another' Gospel, Gospel of Works which is exactly opposite. You cannot mix both of them.

Rom 4:4 "Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt."
Rom 11:6 "And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no more work."
