Matteusevangeliet 23: 27-28
Ve er, skriftlärda och fariseer, ni hycklare som är som vitkalkade gravar.
Utanpå ser de prydliga ut, men inuti är de fulla av de dödas ben och annat orent!
På samma sätt visar ni upp ett rättfärdigt yttre för människorna, medan ert inre ärfullt av hyckleri och orättfärdighet.
--- Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness. Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.

Stadens hövdingar dömer för mutor, prästerna undervisar för betalning och profeterna spår för pengar.Ändå stöder de sig på HERREN och säger: "Är inte HERREN mitt ibland oss? Olycka skall inte drabba oss."

Have you not seen a futile vision, and have you not spoken false divination? You say, ‘The LORD says,’ but I have not spoken.”
Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: “Because you have spoken NONSENS and envisioned lies, therefore I am indeed against you,” says the Lord GOD.
