Blasphemy = evil speech
The Holy Spirit is testifying about Jesus and teaches us everything about Gods grace and plan for us. To not receive the Holy Spirit but rather the spirit of the world is a sin that will not be forgiven. To resist the Holy Spirit when he comes with the truth, but rather call it evil and chose the spirit of the world and call that good is the blasphemy that cannot be forgiven. The Pharisees blasphemed when they saw God’s miracles and said that Jesus was doing miracles with the spirit of Satan and so they called God’s miracles the work of Satan.
As long as a person doesn’t realize or understand who the Holy Spirit is there is always a chance to repent and accept the truth. Many will hear the Gospel and not realize what it is, so it doesn’t mean a person who has been a cultural Christian and then changes his mind cannot be forgiven. It is not unforgivable to not believe another human preaching the Gospel. But the Holy Spirit will at one point or another in everybody’s life prove that you are wrong about sin and this is the time to accept or reject.
One who continually suppresses the truth God sends will not receive saving grace. Thus, he can never be forgiven.
Summary: Anyone who does not accept The Holy Spirit’s convicting influence and repents will not be forgiven. The blasphemy against the Holy Spirit can be to permanently reject Jesus as attested by the Spirit’s works, and to call any evidence of God’s miracles as doings of Satan or some other being.
A Christian who is obeying Jesus commands is not risking blaspheming the Holy Spirit.
It is therefore very reasonable to say that if a Christian worries that he has blasphemed the Spirit, he probably hasn't. If you are such a person, and you are concerned about this issue, read and accept I John 1:7:
"…but if we walk in the light as He Himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin."
Remember to give God all the Glory, and know that there isn’t anything existing that isn’t under the control of God. Repent and turn away from sins, obey God’s commandments as Jesus has explained them. Accept the teachings from Holy Spirit, because this will teach you about Jesus and God’s gift to us. Let God shape you in his furnace until you are acceptable to him. Thank God every day for his merciful gift, to save you by his grace. If you don’t know the influences of the Holy Spirit then pray, pray, pray, and pray to God for mercy. If you are humble and honestly seeking God he has promised that you will find what you need. This is what we can do and the rest is up to God.
Matthew 12:18,32-32
18 “Here is my servant whom I have chosen,the one I love, in whom I delight, I will put my Spirit on him, and he will proclaim justice to the nations.
31 And so I tell you, every kind of sin and slander can be forgiven, but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. 32 Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.
John 16:7-9
Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: Of sin, because they believe not on me;
1 Corinthians 2:12-15
Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
13Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
14But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
15But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.
Acts 7:51-53
Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.
52Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers:
53Who have received the law by the disposition of angels, and have not kept it.
- This is not wrong but this is NOT GOSPEL THAT SAVES
If this is what you have been told:
If this is what you have been told then you have not the whole truth from the Gospel that Jesus and his apostles are teaching. A huge part of the gospel is to repent and turn away from you old sinful ways. To grow from a babe into a mature person who is walking as Jesus did. Only to accept that Jesus was telling the truth or that Jesus is your Lord is not saving. Many will say Lord, Lord to Jesus and not enter heaven.
1. If you decided to become a Christian today, welcome to God's family. Now, as a way to grow closer to Him, the Bible tells us to follow up on our commitment.
2. Get baptized as commanded by Christ.
3. Tell someone else about your new faith in Christ.
4. Spend time with God each day. It does not have to be a long period of time. Just develop the daily habit of praying to Him and reading His Word. Ask God to increase your faith and your understanding of the Bible.
5. Seek fellowship with other Christians. Develop a group of Christian friends to answer your questions and support you.
6. Find a local church where you can worship God.
------------------------------------- CONCLUSIONS
To do what God commands is not works, the Bible does not represent obedience as impossible, nor does it represent God's commands as unreasonable. In fact, the Bible says that they are not even a burden for those who love God "all of his paths are pleasant ways and all of his paths peace." If you believe that God requires more of you than is possible, of course you'll view it as impossible to obey Him. But if He is your strength and requires only what is within your ability to do, then surely in Christ you can obey Him.
"God made us, and God is able to empower us to do whatever he calls us to do. Denying that we can accomplish God's work is not humility, it's the worst kind of pride."
